Trusting in God for a new House – Part One.

To those waiting on God for provision to buy their first home, I want to encourage you to be patient and to fully trust in God. Believe me, the waiting can be very painful, especially when you see all you friends are now landlords and you are still a tenant.

I would like to share my journey on how we got our first home. My testimony is a bit of a lengthy one, so I will be writing it in stages.

My family and I lived in a small first floor flat for many years. As the family got bigger, the apartment got too small for us. At least the flat had balcony for the kids to play on, which was a bit of a consolation.

Financially, we were living more of hand to mouth. I was self employed and my wife had freshly graduated and started on a new job. One day, I had to meet with a client at their home. I got lost and so found myself at a construction site of new homes. The homes were beautifully designed. For a moment I gazed at them and thought how someday some lucky people would live in them. It never crossed my mind that we could live in such luxurious homes, of course they were very expensive. According to our income and the advice from a mortgage advisor, we could only qualify for shared ownership. This meant we would own 50% of a home. The homes that we qualified for would require heavy refurbishment. We had no choice, so we kept on searching for shared ownership homes and continued to save for the deposit.

After a while our five year old son came back from school very upset because he was the only one in his class who lived in a flat and that we had no garden. At that stage, little did he know that we rented the apartment and not owned it. This broke our hearts, something had to be done.

We started praying in faith and believing that God would miraculously provide us we our home. One night, I tossed and turned as I could not sleep. I decided to search for properties for sale. I stumbled on some of the homes from the development which I had seen a while ago and I showed my wife the houses and she fell in love with them. We decided to pray about it, that if it was God’s will, he will provide us with one of those beautiful homes which I had seen. I will leave it here for now and will share the next part of my testimony in my following post…………..

God bless.
